Those that know me would tell you, I’m quite the bargain shopper. It’s such a delightful feeling when you find something you love and take a look at the price tag and it makes it even better! I absolutely couldn’t pass up this tiger chiffon shirt, which retails at $15.80. The fabric is great for a summery day, and would be nice under a solid colored blazer to add some flair and contrast.

These next few weeks I’ll be sharing some shots from the talented photographer, Aly Carroll! She’s an absolute delight to work with and I had a wonderful time collaborating with her. Can’t wait to share!

Lily and Violet Boutique

LVLast night, Lily and Violet Boutique had another fun get together before their grand opening this weekend. If you’re in the area, you really should check it out!
LV2Jaclyn is such an impromptu photographer (above photo)!

What are your weekend plans? I can’t wait to celebrate with two old friends at their combined, husband and wife, baby shower. It will be so nice to re-connect, and see my friends little baby bump!

Masked Ball

deb&iMy sister and I attended the first ever, Masked Ball Event in Minneapolis. It raises scholarship money for the United Negro College Fund.  My sister and I had a ball (hehe) picking out the perfect mask. The masks made this event really stand out from the other charity events I have attended. Some attendees even wore them through dinner, so their identity remained a mystery.
When next weekend rolls around, be sure to try something new, host a social gathering, or attend a local event! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. What do you have to lose?

Season of Swimwear

swim
1. Crocheted Ruffle Bikini- Forever 21 2. Polka Dot Underwire Top- J.Crew 3. Weekender One Piece Swimsuit- Zinke 4. Verao Agora Geo Bikini – Anthropologie

It’s finally that time of year again (and for us Minnesotan’s, it couldn’t come soon enough)! Beaches, swimsuits, sunglasses, flip-flops, rooftops…I could go on for hours with the excitement I have. There’s something about the temperature rising and the sun appearing that makes Minneapolis come alive.
In order to be prepared, swimwear is a must-have in the closet. And, it’s always nice to have a few options. The above are some of my favorites this season. The polka dot high-waisted bottom is a bit daring, but give it a try!
Enjoy the sunshine,
Katie

Gift Ideas: Mother’s Day

mothers1. Every lady loves flowers. If you’re in the Minneapolis area the best bouquets in town are at Spruce!
2. She can collect all of her change in a fashionable way (Tory Burch Zip Coin Case).
3. Lets say the funds just aren’t there right now.  At least get your mother a very nice, meaningful card. My recommendation is Papyrus. You can’t go wrong with Papyrus cards. They are a bit more pricey, but well-worth it.
4. Mom’s love having relaxing days at home (Anthropologie Blushed Rosebud Robe).
5. Everyone needs more basics. It’s the perfect top for an everyday look (J.Crew smocked top).
6. Having a hard time picking something out? Get her a Starbucks or Caribou gift card.
7. For the ladies that enjoy spending a lot of time in the kitchen (Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child).
8. To remind her just how much she is loved (Parc Boutique Sweetheart Ring).

Now I just have to figure out what I’m getting my mom!
xx,
Katie

One Year Anniversary

one year collageWhat a journey this year has been! The gratitude I have to all of you following along and encouraging me during this endeavor can not be expressed. It is my personal fashion journal and if it inspires just one person that’s enough for me.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on To Live for Style. The more advice I can get, the better! Hopefully, this upcoming year I will post more regularly and actually do some outside photography (the snow better be gone in May).
Thanks again!
With all my love,
Katie

One, Two, Three

collage1. ASOS T-shirt Dress with Dipped Back Hem 2. Karen Walker Sunglasses 3. Michael Antonio Reptile Sandal
Here’s an easy one, two, three step outfit for a casual night out. Don’t want to look too dressy, but still not lazy?  Wear a comfortable dress with flats.  And, don’t forget the shades for the nights spent on the rooftops!  There’s nothing worse than having to hold your hand above your forehead to block away the sun.  Block that sun in style.  I usually try to stay under a certain budget when it comes to accessories and shoes, but I think it’s ok to splurge on a nice pair of sunglasses.  You’ll wear them all the time and I highly doubt you’ll regret the purchase.
To the sun,
Katie

Bracelet Winner

bracelet winnerThis was from awhile back, but here’s the darling bracelet from the Izzy Mae Stitches giveaway!  I couldn’t help but share.  Congrats Kirsten Knutson. Hope your enjoying your new accessory!  Be sure to check out Izzy Mae Stitches Facebook.  They have some fun new headpieces and if I’m ever pregnant, I will definitely be rocking one of those hipster bands.

Printed Pants

IMG_9180This issue of the magazine we got to team up with Parc Boutique.  This store is beyond adorable, and they have everything a girl could love.  While we were there, each of us got to pick out an outfit that represented our style.  These printed pants immediately caught my eye, and the best thing is they’re extremely comfortable!  The understated shoe seemed appropriate to balance out the print, and the fierce blue clutch was the final touch to tie it all together.

IMG_9190Pleats in the back…such a fun detail.

IMG_9199If you want to see what the other editors styled with this top, be sure to check out Bow & Arrow Magazine!
Happy ALMOST Friday,
Katie

Spring is in the Air

fashionFloral Print Long Sleeve Shirt, Tortoise & Brass Link Necklace

Spring is in the air!  But, it’s not quite warm enough to be pulling out our t-shirts YET (keyword). I’ve been patiently waiting for this season to arrive, because that means I can bring on the florals, patterns and fun colors. This top is exactly what I’m talking about, and would fit great under a blazer for work, or be nice with jeans on a brunch date. If you want to add some jewels, try this J.Crew necklace that goes with just about anything and everything.
Happy Spring,
K
